It’s Canada Day today (1 July)!! There are events at every corner of the City, so we have been out since 10am and didn’t settle back home until 5pm. We were at the Legislature checking out the events, performance, food, as well as observing how patriotic are the Canadian. People are mostly in red, which is one of the Canadian national colors, or clothing that have prints and colors that symbolize Canada. I say clothing because I have seen people in red and white hats, ties, t-shirts, sweat shirts, jackets, pants, scarves, bandanas, etc. Not to mention the little Canadian flags that people have tugged or glued on their belongings, including dogs and walking stick! They are also people with Oh Canada picnic mats, foldable chairs, plates and cups, etc. Definitely! Definitely, more patriotic compared to where I came from.
Anyway, we put on a Canadian Girl t-shirt for Kay too and matching it with a
pair of white pant. Isn’t she cute?
The weather today was perfect at 17C with lovely sunshine and nice breeze. It was a wonderful outing and Kay especially had a blast. She had so much fun that even the 21-gun salute did not stop her from running around the grass, watching the lion dance, sipping fruit juice and snacking on free cakes.
Now, I did mention that we were out most of the time, didn’t I? That means I didn’t have a chance to cook for Kay, so she ate whatever we ate today, which was completely fastfood. (So much on educating Kay on healthy eating eh?) Oh well! It’s the Canada Day so we are allow to make exceptions.
We started our day with breakfast at Tim Hortons’ enjoying the new Cheese Bagel B.E.L.T because I- just-love-bagel!
Well, the Tim Horton’s bagel is not the best I have tasted but it is good enough to power up my day.
For lunch, I let my husband decides and he went for
the Taco Bell’s Cheesy Gordita Crunch set. What’s really interesting to me, and Kay, about the set is the cinnamom corn twists. I was expecting salty chips but end up chewing on something sweet. I have to say Kay was the only one that enjoyed the twists. Don’t believe me? Ask her yourself.
Now, dinner was an educational one. My in laws brought KFC home for dinner. I recognized the logo of an old man and my father in law told me it is KFC but I found myself staring at the word PFK on the box instead. Finally, I realised “PFK” is “KFC” in French. PFK = Poulet Frit Kentucky, and a direct translation of “Poulet Frit Kentucky” to English means ”Chicken Fried Kentucky”. I didn’t know chicken could do frying but I was eating one for dinner. Heh!
Just wanted to say how adorable Kay looked with the Canadian girl top. That Cinnamon twist looks unusual too!
The Cinnamon twist tasted unusual too!
